Safer Internet Day (SID) was established on the initiative of the European Commission in 2004. It is celebrated all over the world. The full list of countries and institutions involved and the actions taken by them can be found at www.saferinternetday.org.
The organizer of the event in Poland since 2005 is Polish Safer Internet Centre (PCPSI), which consists of the national research institute NASK and the Empowering Children Foundation - implementers of the EU program "Digital Europe". The main partner of the event is the Orange Foundation.
SID aims to initiate and promote activities for safe access of children and young people to Internet resources, to familiarize parents, teachers and educators with the issues of online safety and to promote positive use of the Internet.
